Profession Qualification certification and registration procedure
Lawyer ·   For residents intending to work as lawyer in Macao are required to complete trainee courses organised by the Macao Lawyers Association (AAM) in order to be eligible for lawyer registration with AAM. ·   Any unregistered person who claims to be a lawyer or acts in the profession of a lawyer in Macao incurs criminal liability, with a maximum penalty of two-year imprisonment and a fine of 200-day penalty.
15 categories of Medical Personnel ·   15 categories of medical personnel including doctor, dentist, Chinese medicine practitioner, pharmacist, Chinese herbalist, nurse, medical laboratory technician, radiologist, chiropractor, physical therapist, occupational therapist, speech therapist, psychotherapist, nutritionist and pharmacy technical assistant.

Accountants ·   Law No.20/2020 (Qualification and Practice Regime of the Profession of Accountants) has come into effect since 1 December 2020, ‘Registered auditors’ and ‘registered accountants’ is merged, and collectively be called ‘accountants’.
·   Residents of the Macao SAR who wish to register as ‘professional qualifications’ or ‘practical qualifications’, must meet the registration requirements and pass the mandatory examination. Please refer to the website of the Financial Services Bureau for details.
Urban construction and urban planning

·   Technician responsible for planning, as well as guidance and implementation of engineering must register in the Land of Public Transport Bureau, including:  architecture, landscape architecture, urban planning, civil engineering, fire protection engineering, environmental engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical and electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, industrial engineering, fuel engineering and traffic engineering.

·   žHolders of relevant bachelor’s degree, who meets the following criteria, are eligible for the registration:
1.  Residents of Macao SAR
2.  Has completed internship
3.  Pass the registration exam
ž·   Civil servants who are holders of relevant bachelor’s degree, have work at least 3 consecutive years in Urban construction and urban planning area, and passes the registration, can be exempted from internship under the approval of CEAU.

·   Internship for professional certification
Internship can be full time or non-full-time. Full time internship has a minimum duration of two years, non-full-time internship has a minimum duration of five years, which includes practices and theories.
Internship has to be conducted by an architect, urban planner or engineer of relevant field, at the firms in Macao SAR or individual entrepreneurs or commercial entrepreneurs or companies.

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer License For the residents intending to work as Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, are obliged to the registration requirements and pass the registration examination. Teachers (non-higher education catergory) For the entry qualifications of teaching staff at different stages and the relevant registration procedures, please refer to the “entry qualifications of teaching staff” website of the Education and Youth Bureau. (Information available in Chinese only)
Social Worker

·   For those intending to practice the profession of social worker are required to undergo recognition of professional qualification and pass the professional qualification assessment examination before registering as a qualified social worker.
·   Applicants have to meet the following requirements:
1. Holder of Macao SAR Resident Identity Card;
2. Holder of bachelor’s degree of social work or above;
3. Pass the professional qualification assessment examination (All applicants fulfill the requirements of recognition of professional qualification are exempted from the examination)

·   Starting from 2nd of April of 2023, applicants of recognition of professional qualification has to pass the professional qualification assessment examination to practice the profession of social worker. 2. Licenses that requires high school education:

License Registration procedure
Real Estate Agent License Real estate brokerage activities on immovable property located in Macao SAR can only be carried out by persons with valid “real estate agent licence”. A specific and standardised professional qualification assessment system as well as a monitoring and punishment mechanism have been set up by the law to regulate the operation of real estate market for ensuring the rights and interests of consumers. Insurance Intermediary Residents intending to carry out individual insurance intermediary business in Macao are required to apply for the licence of relevant professional practitioners (i.e. licence for individual insurance agent or insurance salesman) with the Monetary Authority of Macao (AMCM). In addition to acquiring the basic knowledge of insurance business, applicants are required to complete the professional training recognised by AMCM. For details, please refer to the website of AMCM.
Junket Promoter License Individuals or companies intending to promote casino games of chance or other casino games through the allocation of facilities such as transportation, accommodation, food and entertainment, in return for a commission or other remuneration paid by a concessionaire, are required to apply for the junket promoter licence issued by the government through the Gaming Inspection and Coordination Bureau (DICJ) before carrying out the mentioned business. Macao Tour Guide Card Prior to registering with the Macao Government Tourism Office and being issued a tour guide card, those intending to work as tour guides (tour guide is a professional who receives remuneration for welcoming, accompanying and guiding visitors in Macao) are required to hold a higher degree or bachelor’s degree in tourism studies provided by a local tertiary institution in Macao, or pass the examination after taking the Tour Guide Course provided by the Macao University of Tourism.
