Task Force of Planning and Evaluation under the Talents Development Committee discussed on the formulation of Catalogue of Talents in Short Supply

The Task Force of Planning and Evaluation under the Talents Development Committee has held the second meeting in the year of 2016, chaired by Dr. Yeung Tsun Man Eric, Convener of the Task Force. During the meeting, the committee members discussed the further actions to enrich the lists of talent demands in the five major economic sectors, namely hospitality, catering, conference & exhibitions, gaming and retailing, as well as future researches on talent development planning.

Based on the statistical analysis and scientific ranking of the survey data, the Committee has made lists of talent demands in the five key economic sectors, which have been uploaded onto the website of the Talents Development Committee. For the next stage, the Committee will identify the skills in short supply in the five sectors, taking into account the level of job demand and demand intensity. Industry representatives will be invited to share knowledge in these jobs, i.e. the required educational qualifications and work experience, professional skills and capabilities, which will then be analyzed and consolidated to make the Catalogue of Talents in Short Supply as a reference for Macau residents seeking promotional and lateral moves.

The Committee is making plans in conducting surveys on talent needs in other industries and researches on talent development planning. At the meeting, the Committee Secretariat updated on the progress of such surveys in finance and construction industries. The Committee also had a preliminary discussion on future researches in talent development planning, hoping to better formulate the long-term talent strategy in the special administrative region.
