The second meeting of this year for the ‘Program of Elites Formation’ Convened

At the second meeting of the Program of Elites Formation under the Talents Development Committee, representatives from the Education and Youth Affairs Bureau and Tertiary Education Services Office gave presentations on the overseas exchange programs for local outstanding students which will be launched in the following year. Members of the Elites Formation actively made suggestions and opinions on the selection method, theme, itinerary and arrangement of the programs.

Chaired by the leader of the Elites Formation, Dr. Wu Zhi Liang, the meeting began with the presentation of Leong Vai Kei, a Department Head of Education and Youth Affairs Bureau. She introduced the soon-to-be-launched Scheme for Strengthening Secondary School Students' English Competence - English Summer Camp, Scheme for Strengthening Secondary School Students' Portuguese Competence - Portuguese Summer Camp, and Macao Outstanding Secondary School Students Cultivation Scheme. The Functional Head of the Tertiary Education Services Office, Vong Iut Peng, then briefed the meeting on the academic activity that collaborated with the University of Cambridge for tertiary students.

The above programs were deemed to be helpful in widening the horizons of tertiary and secondary students of Macau by the members of the Elites Formation. They also gave suggestions on the theme, itinerary arrangement, selection and follow-up works of the programs. All these programs are expected to pave the way for elite cultivation. The two departments thank the suggestions from the members, and expressed that they would modify and improve the details of projects.

The Secretariat of the Talents Development Committee then reported the progress of the Subsidy Scheme -- Global Leaders Master Course of University of Cambridge which has been launched since November.

Members attending the meeting included: Wu Zhi Liang, Leong Lai, Lei Heong Iok, Pang Su Seng, Iu Vai Pan, Yu Wing Yat, Fong Ka Chio, and Sou Chio Fai.
