Programme Promoting Application-oriented Talent Continuously Launching Its Works

As a subsidiary component of the Talent Development Committee, the Programme of Promoting Application-oriented Talent Group held a meeting at the Tertiary Education Services Office hosted by group leader Wong Chi Hong. Members exchanged their views on government-enterprises career training, promotion for co-operation of skills qualification and construction of a one-stop information platform for career training and skills qualification.

Research on setting up framework to promote government-enterprises collaboration
During the meeting, members expressed concern about the actual needs of career training courses amongst local enterprises; meanwhile, there is a need to strengthen the acceptability of career training courses and construct mechanisms to strengthen co-operation with enterprises. It was suggested that the government introduce measures, encourage the co-operation of local enterprises, trade associations and other organisations, and jointly cultivate various application-oriented talent - especially industrial and technical talent - for moderate economic diversification.

In addition, the government should co-operate with enterprises in the active promotion of skills qualification. The group will later develop draft recommendations for the next stage of its work.

Conduct works for the construction of an information platform for career training and skills qualification
In addition, members discussed the construction of an information platform for career training and skills qualification. It is believed that such a platform could help local residents assimilate more comprehensive knowledge of career training and skills qualification, thus the awareness of residents about continuing education can be enhanced. All members agreed with the need for the construction of an information platform for career training and skills qualification, and plan to launch the relevant construction work later.

To further understand the general situation of local residents in off-service training and vocational and technical education in Macao, the Programme of Promoting Application-oriented Talent Group specially invited Kong Ngai, Director of Division of the Continuing Education of Education and Youth Affairs Bureau (DSEJ) and Ng Wai Hong, Director of the Division of Secondary and Vocational Technical Education of DSEJ, to introduce the implementation status of the ‘Continuing Education Development Plan’, as well as the current situation of Macao’s vocational and technical education and its future development.

Participating members included Wong Chi Hong, Yeung Tsun Man Eric, Ung Choi Kun, Leong Heng Kao, Ma Chi Ngai Frederico, Tai Wong Kuai Leng, Chan Chi Fong and Sou Chio Fai.
