Task Force of Encouraging Talents to Return to Macau held its second meeting of the year

Hosted by Lao Pun Lap, the convener of the Task Force of Encouraging Talents to Return to Macau, the group held its second meeting of the year at the Tertiary Education Services Office (GAES). Group members discussed about a study report of the topic and the professional education background that required for entering civil service.

Lao indicated that one of the responsibilities of the task force was researching and laying out schemes and policies to attract talents to return to Macao. Gabinete de Estudo das Políticas had assigned the University of Macao to research on the project about talents returning to Macao. And the assistant professor Chan Kin Sun of the university was invited to present the process of the project. In the meeting, Chan explained the progress of the relevant research, and the group members actively discussed on the issue, and showed valuable opinions on how to attract talents to return to Macao, and suggested laying out a proper mechanism to contact with talents.

The members also probed into the topic about professional education background required for entering civil service. A fair number of members indicated that the current educational requirement for civil service workers was not coming into contact with the world, thus some residents with international qualifications or specific fields of studies were restrained from entering into civil service. It was believed that the government should pay concern to the issue. Further recommendations would be submitted to the Talents Development Committee for discussion later.

In addition, since it would be the 15th anniversary of Macao’s handover to China, the task force was proposing the “Scheme of Overseas Talents Delegation Revisiting Macao”, to attract overseas talents to learn the achievements of Macao on spot after its handover to China, especially its economic and social development, so as to enhance their understanding of the current situation of Macao, and attract them to return here in future.

Members attending the meeting included: the convener Lao Pun Lap, Ung Choi Kun, Chan Melinda Mei Yi, Lao Chi Ngai Frederico, Liang Baijin, Tai Wong Kuai Leng and Sou Chio Fai.
